We had our first meeting with Dr. Furness of Rocky Mountain Pediatric Urology. It went well. At this point, we feel at ease with Dr. Furness. He drew us pictures and I think I understand what is going on a little bit more. Squirt might be starting to get another hernia and still has quite a bit of stiffness and swelling. Depending on how that heals is how we will proceed. Dr. Furness also needs to get the full surgical reports from Children's to understand which techniques were used in the previous surgeries. While he was examing him, Squirt just laid there with his hands behind his head. Sad when he thinks this is the norm.
The one thing he talked about was if the stiffness doesn't go away, they will have to graft some skin from inside his cheek. We knew they might have to do this with the other two surgeries and it's really not a big deal, but it totally gives me the heebie jeebies. We go back in three months.
