Children's Denistry

We took Squirt to the dentist for the first time today and it went great. We were supposed to go a while ago but I have been putting it off. I'm so happy to say that with all the high calorie junk we put down him, it has not affected his teeth. He has excellent hygiene, according to Dr. Whalen.
Interesting enough, he is put into a high risk category because of his prematurity. His two- year molars are the ones most likely to be affected, so he wants to keep a close eye on those when they come in. Our next appointment is in August when he hopes to see those pesky molars. EEEEEEE! :)
If you are looking for a pediatric dentist, I would recommend the Children's Dentistry. They are located off of 80th and Sheridan. It was really cute and really clean in there. They even had Squirt's name on the welcome board.

Ahhhh.....

B's Senior Picture .......doesn't even look like him.

B's brother Spencer as a baby

Byron baby

My baby
(this was snapped right before the temper came out.....he was telling me 'more' cookies and I was snapping away)
I think Squirt is a definite cross between Spence and Byron. Sometimes I think he looks like me but my mom has "misplaced" my baby pictures to compare.....the second one always gets the shaft :) Anyway, it's just fun to see how genetics come into play.

Hair Changes......Again.....

Got my hair cut and a dye job Saturday. I didn't do a poll this time because I was sure of what colors I wanted Regina to put in my hair. The cut is the exact same......trying to grow it out just because. It's going sssssssssssssllllllllllllllllllloooooooooowwwww.
So I think it looks cute. I've done these colors before but I think I am getting a job with a credit union tomorrow and well, they saw my hair a bit darker.......I guess we will see if they have a dress code that includes hair dye. I got away with this at my last job because they were "natural colors".

Sugar and Spice

girl

Matt and Jeanne had a sweet baby girl, Aiden Marie, today at around 2:30 pm. We got the call this morning to head to the hospital. Jeanne's water broke at around 1:30am. Jeanne slept most of the time. There were about 8 adults, 2 active toddlers, and loads of machines and she just totally rested. That is how I would want it to go. She started pushing at around 1:40.
We were all waiting outside the door when Matt popped his head out with tears in his eyes and said "it's a girl!". She is 6lbs 13oz and I believe 19in. There was some confusion on the length. She had to go to the nursery for a little while because her oxygen was low. One of my favorite nurses, Patsy was working on her (She delivered at LMC). Squirt has a beautiful girlfriend with lots of dark hair. I feel so completely blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family that we get to share such special moments in their lives.
Love, love, love our boys but I'm so excited to go buy little PINK things!!!!!

Jeanne and baby Moe. I think she looks so much like Reese Witherspoon.

At a baby shower hosted by Matt and Jeanne.......Aiden's in the picture too....... :)

Potty Training Boot Camp

After our last visit with Patty in December, she told me to start having Squirt let me know when he has gone poop, have him lead the way to the get changes, and make him get the diaper. It's more challenging and time consuming than it sounds. At first he didn't tell me, but you definitely knew when he would go. I would have him go upstairs and grab a diaper. I'm so excited because now he lets me know (he signs and says op) and sometimes he lets me know before he goes and starts to head upstairs. The only problem is he is now rebelling against grabbing a diaper and getting changed. He'll eventually do it but I fell like I have to be sort of a hard @$$ about it. I'm not quite sure if this will work in my favor or against it. We don't see Patty for a few more weeks....I feel slightly lost without my coach.
The ultimate goal is to have him potty trained by the time he is two. That may get set back a few months because of his surgery, hopefully not.
Until then, I just have to remember consistency is the key and they don't call it training for nothing :)

If you have any suggestions or advice, it is more than welcome!!!!!

Sleep, please.

I spent the last two nights with Chelsea at the hospital helping her out while she recovers. She's not feeling too hot. Her blood count is way low and because they had to cut her uterus every which way, she is in more pain than usual. I think she will (should) be at the hospital for a few more days.
*Ang-St. Jo's is nice but I think you had a much better room at Rose. I even thought my room after I delivered at Lutheran was better than her room. Just my 2 cents.*
I was really, really happy to help out. Brand new baby smell is one of the best smells in the world. I think that is God's favorite scent because as corny as it sounds, I think of heaven every time I smell a baby. I can't help but think He gave babies that sweet smell to remind them of where they came from and where we hope to go.
He was up about every hour and a half trying to nurse but poor Chelsea just couldn't keep up so I got to feed him his bottles while she rested. It was lovely. I forgot how sweet they sleep after a diaper change and bottle. The nurse called it the "newborn honeymoon" phase. There will be so many phases to come in his life, Chelsea will blink and he will be 17 months. Ahhhh.... Enough of THOSE silly thoughts, I'm a sentimental fool that is going to bed :)

He's Here!!!!!!

I got the call last night at 10:45 to head to the hospital because Chelsea's water broke. When I got there, they were prepping her for a c-section. The little guy flipped and was sideways. They told her they could try flipping him but there was hardly any amniotic fluid and if things went wrong, it would put her in an emergency type of situation. She was fine with having a c-section. I am so glad she was OK with it because her c-section was complicated. She had surgery on her colon when she was two and left a lot of scar tissue. The scar tissue fused her uterus and bladder together so they had to cut her a few ways to get the baby out.
Both mom and baby are fine, they did a great job! If she has another child, she will absolutely have to have another c-section and they don't want her to labor at all.
Here are the stats on the little boy.

Slacking

I have tons of pictures to share but just haven't sorted through them all yet. I'm hooked on digital scrap booking so that is what I spend my "off" time in the evenings on.

I have a job interview in the morning. It's more hours than I want so even if they offer I am probably not going to take it (much to B's dismay). I am hoping for another place to give me a call back. Perfect hours, 20 a week. It's been so long since I was in an interview situation this will be a refresher :)

Moving On

I made the dreaded call to the urology department where it was confirmed Dr. Koyle and Children's could not work out an agreement. :( Good luck, Dr. Koyle.

I set up an appointment with Dr. Furness, who was highly recommend by Dr. Koyle, in early February. As sad as I am, the first impression with this office is a good one. I hope the doctor can live up to my expectations.

Update on my friend Chelsea. She has made to 39 weeks and is ready to evict her boy *Yeah*
Lil' @nthony is already a handful. She is dilated to about 3 but her contractions are inconsistent. She keeps asking me if things are normal and I have to keep reminding her I didn't get that far. I'm sure at my urging she has called and gone to hospital more than normal women but that is what happens when you ask me :)
She asked her doc if they would induce and he said he personally doesn't want to. No reason on why just that he doesn't want to. Kaiser.......enough said.
We walked around Flat Irons tonight and will be headed to Colorado Mills in a couple of days to see if that will prompt labor. If anyone has any suggestions, she would gladly take them.
*Tried Castor Oil and it did nada*

Be gone!

I think that stupid bug has finally vacated Squirt. He's had the runs all week....blah.
We took him to the chiropractor today and while we were waiting to see her, we put him on the scale and he was 14.9 lbs with clothes on. I immediately took him off because I didn't want to see that number.
In case anyone is thinking why did I go see a chiropractor instead of our pedi? I called our pedi and they said this virus just has to run its course. As long as he is not dehydrated and had good wet diapers, we just had to wait it out. Weight loss is an unfortunate side effect for him. :( :( :(

We are seeing Dr. Trish, the chiropractor, with *surprise* our growth issues. Just on a side note, some may say the virus was on its way out anyway, Squirt was still very floppy, super-super whiny this morning and after his adjustment, he was back to his playful, minimal- whiny self. I honestly wish I would have taken him in sooner. I absolutely love her philosophy. Basically just because there are limitations on some things doesn't mean that is true for everything. There is always room for improvement. This is quite vague but I can't possibly type our conversations that would be one LONG blog. She believes in the body, the miracle it is, and helping it do its job. Do I think chiropractics is the cure all? No, but I'm a fan of well-rounded health care.
When I was little I had horrible bladder infections. I can remember being in the hospital having nightmarish tests done. One in particular was they had tubes in me and were filling my bladder with so much water and I had to keep it in while they did an ultrasound. I can remember it felling like an eternity and bawling. I was about six. The answer they gave my mom was I would just have to live with it. Thank goodness she kept looking for an answer and found Dr. Trish. After her adjustments, I stopped getting bladder infections after having them since infancy. Of course, our doctor said I just grew out of them. I really hope she can help Squirt.

So I'm slackin' when it comes to pics. I have loads of x-mas pics that I will hopefully get up this weekend in between watching the playoffs.
Have a good one!

Happy New Year!

Welcome 2008! There are many of us glad to see you. I like the idea of a fresh start, don't you? I'm a bit too fickle for resolutions but I have high hopes for the new year. I hope for nothing more than health, happiness and of course winning lotto numbers :)

In the health category, I hope (as it should be) this is the last urology surgery Squirt must have. I really want that chapter closed. I hope to lose this jiggle I was so happy to put on. For all, I hope for a healthy year!

Disneyland= Happiness.....that is my hope anyway :)

Winning lotto would just be super nice

Happy New Year! May 2008 be all that and a bag of chocolate chip cookies!
